There are 3 types of keys that can’t be cut directly with Xhorse Automatic Key Cutting Machine at present: plastic key, smeary key and aluminium key. That’s because the first step key learning is measured by electrical conductivity. Once the key does not have electroconductibility, it’s easy to cause broken probes when decoding key.

- Aluminum Key, the surface of aluminum is prone to forming aluminum oxide, which is insulative.
TIPS
It’s recommended to use optical key bitting recognition with Xhrose Key Reader, manual key decoding or clean the stain(use sandpaper to sand the oxide layer) before key learning.
Good news is Xhorse has developed a key cutting machine with force sensor that can effectively solve the problem of broken probes caused by non-conductive keys. New machine is being tested and will be available in the future soon.
